Dana Eudy-Biographies: Creating Timelines of a Life

I chose this lesson plan because I think I could actually use it in my classroom. My class is currently studying biographies so I thought this lesson would be appropriate. It correlates with the standard course of study and it would be a lesson that students would actually enjoy. I think that it could be adapted easily for my struggling students and my academically gifted students. The level of difficulty could really vary depending on what you want your class to do.

The only part of the lesson that I would not do is looking through the magazines. This is mainly because I don’t have many magazines and the ones I do have do not have biographies that I would want to use. In fourth grade, I would love to use this with famous North Carolinians. I am planning this unit right now and I am going to incorporate some of her ideas. This teacher had her class complete the activity in small groups. I have always completed my project individually, I had never thought about letting them work together.

I love the website that creates the timelines for you. I am definitely going to use this is my class within the next two or three weeks. I played on the website and made a timeline of my life to make sure that it is student friendly and I think that my students will not have too many problems. My students would love to see these hanging in the hallway and they would love to teach their classmates about their individual they studied.
