My name is Heather Travis. I am in my 8th year of teaching 4th grade at Taylorsville Elementary. I absolutely love 4th graders and the content I teach minus the stress of EOG's and the writing test. I married my best friend in July of 2007. We moved into our new house this past summer. In 2005 I obtained National Board Certification. Grad school has been on my mind for some time so this is the goal I am working towards now. This fall I began grad school. My goal is to finish the program in two years so my husband and I can start a family. Family is very important to me. My grandmother is my hero! I love to read, and just wish I had more free time to do so. God and church is very important to me as well. He has blessed me beyond measure. I look forward to sharing "My bag" in class.

Heather, you forgot to mention how helpful and friendly you are! It's good to know good people!

Hi Heather! I teach third graders at Hiddenite Elementary. I did not recognize a familiar face during our first class... you know how "everyone knows everyone" in Alexander County...but I look forward to meeting you. I taught fourth graders my first seven years of teaching. I loved that age and enjoyed the curriculum, but did not enjoy the stress of the EOGs. But after eight years of reprieve, I will give EOGs again to my third graders. Congratulations on all your exciting news-National Boards, new house-and Best Wishes!

Heather,
I can't wait to see what's in your bag, either! Looking forward to Monday night,

Hi Heather,
I would also like to get my National Boards but decided to go for my masters instead. Maybe when I complete this in the fall I can start on National Boards. See you Monday night.

This is my first year of fourth grade. I didn't think I'd like the big jump from first grade but I love it. I do agree with you that the only downside is EOGs and now this crazy writing that we have to do.
