Hi!! from Lydia

Hi!! My name is Lydia Gwaltney and I am first grade teacher at Stony Point Elementary. This is my fourth year teaching in which I have been in first grade for all four. I am married to a wonderful man named Aron and we have two fab. dogs named Havok (doberman) and Diesel (great dane). We are very into outdoor sports and some indoor. We snowboard, kiteboard, wakeboard, etc. We also love swimming, volleyball, rag ball, etc. Just sporty people!! Our faith is very important. I have a strong relationship with God and sing in the praise band at church. I was awarded First Year Teacher of the Year in 05-06 and was honestly astounded :) Smiles!! I love teaching and I love children, they are the most "real" people you will meet! I am excited about finishing the grad program!! It is going to be great to finally have some "me" time again!

Lydia,

Congratulations on your graduate work coming to a close, as well First Year Teacher of the Year! That is quite an accomplishment.I'm in my 3rd year of teaching after a long career with the telephone company in NY, and I know now how much work and time ( money and personal resources, too) go into being a teacher. I never realized, though, how much we influence and steer our students' paths. I love the relationships I'm building with the kids at my school. Why didn't I do this 20 years ago? Keep up the good work,

Annie Croon
