International Student Teaching Spring 2009

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was six years old. Teaching is a passion for me. I chose education because it has always been a passion for me. I am currently student teaching at Green Valley School. I am working in Mrs. Donna Greene's Kindergarten class. This has been an interesting experience for me. I wanted to be placed in a fourth grade class but I'm glad I'm in kindergarten because I have learned a lot. I have been reminded that teaching isn't all about content, it's also about nurturing the students. I chose to do international when I first heard about it as a sophomore. I have always wanted to do a study abroad trip as a learning experience. I have always enjoyed traveling and I hope this trip teaches me a lot. I want to learn the similarities and differences between the American culture and the Mexican culture and the education systems. I am not planning on teaching in North Carolina and I'm hoping this trip will help me with the cultures of students in my own classroom. I know I will have students of different cultures because I want to teach in Inner City schools. I really hope to learn more than I expect.
