Jamie Brackett's Staff Development Workshop Plan

I plan on doing my staff development worksop on brainstorming using prior knowledge. Most students make predictions about what they are going to read based on what they already know about a topic. When given most subjects, students usually know some sort of fact about the topic. I plan on using some of the strategies I found during this class such as List-Group-Label, Alphabet brainstorming, and the k-w-l chart to discuss the importance of brainstorming with students as a pre-reading strategy. Brainstorming helps students to share their background knowledge with others and is an excellent way to get students to be the leaders of a discussion.
