Staff Development- Bowman & Duncan

We have created a staff development using visual imagery to increase comprehension. This stategy has been proven to help all students from elementary to high school.
In this staff development, teachers will be able to:
Understand the concept of visual or mental imagery
Understand why visual imagery is needed to help with reading comprehension
Break down a reading selection using graphics
Draw a picture to model visual imagery from a text
Recall information in text by looking at pictures
Follow up activities include working with the teacher to develop leveled text reading to instruct the strategy of visual imagery to students.
